Meet Lisa...
Lisa, owner of The Bridal Affair in Easingwold, York, epitomises passion for fashion. She has honed her years of wedding experience into a beautiful, fashion-forward boutique which packs a plethora of picture-perfect dresses into a light and airy double-floored showroom. Read on to meet the lovely Lisa and discover why she’s the perfect chaperone in your dream dress quest.
Tell us how your love of bridal started and your journey to opening your boutique…
I fell in love with bridal around 20 years ago, dreaming of opening an all-encompassing wedding emporium in York housing bridal, floristry, stationery, cakes, menswear, jewellery, wedding rings and styling. However I settled with buying an existing bridal business after organising exclusive wedding fairs for 10 years. The shop was solely for curvy brides but I had the vision to be all-inclusive, opening up to brides from a size 6 to 32. I loved the idea of styling a bride from head-to-toe. We’ve actually moved in the process to larger premises in Easingwold, offering bridal, bridesmaids, mother of the bride, wedding accessories, jewellery and gifts.
Three words to describe your bridal collections…
Stunning, realistic and inclusive.
Brides love your boutique because…
Of the warm, honest, kind and friendly experience. We make our brides feel comfortable and safe and they have fun in a bright welcoming environment.
Tell us about your collections.
We stock Mark Lesley, well-renowned for his classic styling, stunning necklines and beautiful embroidery, beading and lace detail. We also stock three wonderful collections from Romantica of Devon including their classic Romantica gowns, Pure for our budget conscious brides and Silhouette for our curvy brides. We also showcase Victoria Kay’s Beauty collection for our plus size brides offering a gorgeous selection of romantic lace gowns. Finally we stock Veromia and Sonsie, a long established respected designer with well structured gowns for every shape and body type in various fabrics and designs.
What’s new for 2021?
Fabulous embroidered laces, boho drop sleeves, modern laces and simple elegant satins. We still have gowns not seen from 2020 so our brides will have a huge selection. Each collection is so very different with budgets from £595 to £2,225 as well as off-the-peg sample gowns and sale dresses.
Tell us a little bit about the service a bride receives from you.
We will always provide a totally one to one service from start to finish, from the initial enquiry to collecting their dress. We nurture our relationships with our brides and their families and love it when they come back to see us and keep in touch over social media. Our customer service is second to none, from the consultation to administration and service through to alterations.
We’re here for our brides day and night!
What inspires you every day?
Our Brides, their passion and excitement in planning a wedding, as well as those terrified brides not wanting to try on a dress for fear of not finding the one. I want to make every bride feel incredible, I want to see that sparkle in their eyes and the enjoyment the experience with their loved ones!”
